Never thought I would post a vertebrate on this website… but having shoulders inside the rib cage made me make an exception, poor guys. I wrote a text about the development and evolution of the turtle shell at The Node. It shows the beginning of shell formation in embryos and how this can help us understand the evolution of such unique body pattern. 3D animations and fossils are included:

Na última SEED Magazine saíram algumas fotos da exposição “Oceano: vida escondida” e foi lá que li pela primeira vez um artigo bacaninha do PZ Myers, autor do blog de ciência mais famoso (e ativo) do universo, o Pharyngula.

Fiquei sabendo de seu blogger pelo “DESERTORES DE ESCADA”, pois visualizei o perfil dos participantes, inclusive o seu.
Que maravilha o ciclo de vida da bolacha-do-mar. Nunca tinha visto a reprodução ao vivo, só por meio de imagens que meus professores de biologia ensinam. E eles falam tanto em nomes técnicos direcionados ao vestibular, que se torna com o tempo algo muito superficial, pois parece com o tempo de que se eu fizer uma pergunta mais aprofundada eles irão me dizer “faça biologia”, mas eu sou uma simples curiosa sobre o assunto.
Devido a isso, adorei esse vídeo do equinodermo, principalmente de ter incluído um nome de um gênero. =D
